Carter Design Group, formerly Ted Carter Inspired Landscapes, offers landscape design and construction for discerning clients desiring a bespoke landscape for their property. Whether dreaming of a rural retreat, a coastal cottage garden, or a more formal design, we have the experience to help. We specialize in working with natural stone and transforming outdoor spaces.

Our service area is large and includes most communities in Cumberland and York counties, Maine, including Brunswick, Freeport, Yarmouth, Cumberland, Falmouth, Portland, Cape Elizabeth, Scarborough, Saco, Kennebunkport, Kennebunk, Wells, Ogunquit, York, and Kittery. We engage in projects outside of our regular service area on request.

We are a design-build landscape company servicing southern Maine and coastal New Hampshire from our Buxton, Maine headquarters.

Since 2009, we’ve had the privilege of designing, building, and caring for landscapes as Ted Carter Inspired Landscapes. As our company continues to grow and evolve, we’re returning to a familiar name from our history: Carter Design Group.

While our name is changing, our core team, craftsmanship, and commitment to our clients remain the same. This next chapter also brings a natural leadership transition within the company, with Ted Carter continuing to guide our design vision as Creative Director in a part-time capacity and Harry Portlock stepping into the role of President.
